We are excited to share the outlines of the various committees and the valuable functions they serve. Every member can make a difference!
These committees are the engines of our progress, empowered to prioritize and address the important tasks that support rowing in the Berkshires. Specifically, BCR needs your assistance with:
-Organizing events
-Promoting the club
-Recruiting boathouse help and coaches
-And much more!
-We are also actively seeking two or three new members to join the Board of Trustees.

Board of Trustees
- The Board of Trustees provides year-round strategic leadership, meeting monthly to guide the organization’s growth. This group makes essential decisions on program direction, equipment investment, and club staffing. Trustees serve a three-year term and are eligible to serve a second term.
Membership:
- Organize club social events such as early season mixer with members & coaches, end of year potluck, etc..
- Research ways to create membership opportunities for juniors and masters in local communities
- Confirm new members receive membership documents/waivers
- Help new members connect into club volunteer needs
Fees and Fund-Raising:
- Simplify pricing schedule and fees
- Identify & pursue funds through grants and Business sponsorship
- Develop donor relationship with previous and current club members
Coaching Support:
- Assist with private lesson coaching
- Identify and communicate safety protocols with club members
- Prepare coaching manual for volunteer (club members) coaches
- Identify & facilitate member assistance to take on non-coaching tasks for coaches such as recruiting assistance for Regatta preparations
Marketing/Communications:
- Publish Monthly Newsletter
- Maintain Social Media presence
- Member Communication
- Website updates
Programming & Partnership/Outreach:
- Review & modify current program offerings
- Coordinate Learn-to-Row events
- Evaluate YMCA program relationship
- Research ways to Increase youth rowing participation (Miss Hall’s, Taconic High & 18 degrees)
- Research, Plan, & Implement partnerships that fit with current programming abilities
Club Support:
- Reformat, set rules, & clean-up Google drive
- Organize/Facilitate club merchandise needs, purchases, distribution (board to review approve purchase requests)
- CORI checks for staff and youth coaching volunteers
- Create clear volunteer needs to engage all club members to support functioning of the club
Facilities/Equipment:
- Create needs list/reporting protocol for equipment damage and facilitate repair
- Schedule monthly boathouse clean-ups & maintenance days
- Identify building upkeep needs with Boathouse Manager
- Manage annual boat refurbish program (shells & coaches launches)
- Plan outdoor rack build for next to boathouse B
- Head-up boathouse opening & closing days
- Identify boats not used & facilitate sale of unused items
